Will My Credits Transfer? It’s not just a question – it’s a tool! First launched as a feature of our nationwide portal, CollegeTransfer.Net, WMCT is now gaining popularity among our statewide clients. The Pennsylvania Department of Education, for instance, requested we add the WMCT tool to PA TRAC in hopes that more students would create – and benefit from – user accounts. PA TRAC is Pennsylvania’s statewide transfer and articulation center, which provides the comprehensive tools and resources students need as they consider college transfer.
With the state’s ever-growing population of transfer students, it’s no surprise that student account creation had already been increasing on PA TRAC. From July 2012 to August 2013, the site saw a 50% increase in student account creation over the previous year. Since WMCT went live on May 13, though, students have created nearly 70% more accounts over the three corresponding months in 2012.
Will My Credits Transfer (WMCT) was developed to help students explore their best transfer options based upon the transferability of their previous and planned coursework to another institution. WMCT allows users to compile their complete academic history, including assessments, within minutes. The system then provides a detailed course equivalency map that can be saved, shared and updated later. Most remarkably, WMCT also offers users the opportunity to view a list of comparable schools that may accept their credits as well.
Our development team worked closely with the PDE to personalize WMCT for the state. This included changing the messaging and workflow to suit their purposes. “Every state system is unique, so what works for one of our clients may not work for another,” said Troy Starcher, AcademyOne Vice President of Development. “It is important to us that we are able to tailor and refine our existing software for individual circumstances, in addition to offering custom solutions.”
