AcademyOne will continue to support legislative directives for statewide higher education transfer and articulation.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has awarded AcademyOne with a multi-year contract to support its responsibilities for improving higher education transfer and articulation. The contract extends a valued seven-year partnership between AcademyOne and the PDE that has already made college transfer easier and more cost-effective for hundreds of thousands of students across the state.
Effective July 2013, AcademyOne will continue to maintain, host and provide system enhancements to the PA TRAC portal, Pennsylvania’s statewide transfer and articulation web destination. Ongoing training and support will be provided to the 37 participating institutions. Additionally, AcademyOne will continue to support the PA SOAR (Students Occupationally and Academically Ready) Program. The company will deliver project management services and workflow tools to Perkins-funded postsecondary institutions as they create and maintain credit award articulations to high school career and technical programs of study.
“AcademyOne is honored to continue our work with the PDE,” said David K. Moldoff, Founder and CEO of AcademyOne. “We are proud to offer solutions that minimize institutional effort while maximizing the accuracy of transfer information presented to students and advisors alike. With this new contract, we hope to improve even further upon the technology and services we’ve deployed for the PDE.”
AcademyOne began working with the PDE in 2006, when the company was chosen to help fulfill a legislative mandate for more seamless college transfer among the state’s public institutions, including 14 four-year universities and all 14 community colleges. Over the years, nine state-related and private institutions also opted to participate. AcademyOne supplied workflow software that enabled each of these institutions to propose, evaluate and create equivalencies for at least 30 credits of foundational courses guaranteed to transfer in any direction among the other participating institutions. By enrolling in these foundation courses, called the Transfer Credit Framework, students are able to earn the equivalent of one full year of transferable college study.
AcademyOne also developed and implemented the PA TRAC portal based upon the PDE’s requirements. The site was launched in May 2008, giving users unprecedented access to transfer credit equivalencies, information on the participating institutions and step-by-step instructions for changing schools. For the first time, students and their advisors were able to easily evaluate how previous and future coursework could be applied toward a degree, identify their best transfer pathways and avoid courses that wouldn’t count toward graduation. In the past academic year alone, student account creation on PA TRAC has increased by more than 40%.
In 2008, the same year the PA TRAC portal went live, AcademyOne also began working with the PDE’s Bureau of Career and Technical Education to support the PA SOAR Program. The initiative helps high school students earn college credits for select technical education courses, enabling them to save money on college tuition, reduce their time to a college degree or credential and better prepare for high-priority occupations.
AcademyOne designs, develops and hosts innovative websites, portals, mobile applications and widgets for all education providers, including higher education, government agencies, high schools, vocational schools, corporate universities, and a variety of specialized organizations and consortiums.
